Interconnections
by Talia Di Mitrio
Interconnections
Interconnection is a choreographic work that’s a continuing exploration of previous methods established and choreographed by Talia Di Mitrio and Olivia Lowes. This work shows a further development by re-using previous choreography as well as using collaborative processes to create a dance work. To further extend this process Di Mitrio collaborated with Carla Callanan, Dylan Dickson, Reuben Di Manno to create a group devised work. Repeating collaborative methods included sharing movement ideas, using improvisation, and replicating choreographic tasks drawn from post-modern methods, such as Merce Cunningham’s ‘Chace’ Dance Technique and Steve Paxton’s method of Contact Improvisation. These tasks were the building blocks to replicate the collaborative process with other dancers in order to achieve the making of this dance work.
